Western Mediterranean Forum (5+5)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the Mediterranean countries should take advantage of all means that exist in the region that will enable neighbouring countries to face global difficulties.  This concept forms part of a ‘building blocks’ idea that enables a number of countries to strengthen mutual cooperation, and to join other groups  thus encouraging unity in the whole region.

Therefore, Malta, together with other countries in the Western Mediterranean, is studying the possibility of re-establishing the 5 + 5 Dialogue.  Malta believes that this Forum should concentrate on specific terms that deals with concerned countries, and whenever possible, avoid political confrontation that should be dealt with by other organisations.
